The Upper Room

Some furniture we made recently for co-working cafe in the Sydney CBD, The Upper Room. Being approached by the client after he saw the furniture we built for Kin Cafe, he wanted some large communal furniture for his new co-working cafe in Sydney CBD.
Made in our workshop by lead builder Tom, and project builder Mike. Tom said his specification of spotted gum came from the client wanting a “strong and robust timber that could stand up to being used in a commercial environment”. Spotted Gum is one of the strongest Australian Hardwoods available, although it is also one of the most beautiful with it’s grain and ‘spotted’ detail throughout.
The interiors for The Upper Room featured a lot of timber, black and pops of yellow throughout the space so the the deep, rich colours in the spotted gum suited perfectly. The multi purpose space required the furniture to be cleared for functions and events so trestle table’s were specified for the main seating area due to their ease of being able to flat pack and store easily without being an eyesore in the corner of the room.
