We recently worked with restaurant owner Heaven Kim on the furniture for her new venture ‘Chicken Institute’ in Surry Hills. Heaven idea came to us with a clear idea and vision for what she wanted in terms of furniture but needed help confirming the design and measurements required.
After a bit of back and forth she decided on large communal tables, wall benches, and a custom bar counter which was to serve as a food prep area. The small size of the space meant we used a mixture of timbers so as not to overwhelm with one particular type. The tables and benches were made using recycled hardwood and railway sleepers. Whilst, the bar counter was built with a corrugated iron front, Oregon counter top and a stainless steel food prep area.
Heaven opened her restaurant in late January and Broadsheet Sydney featured her in Feb here. Wishing Heaven the best of luck in her new venture.
