Firstly, thanks for your interest in Timbermill!
If you’re after something custom, please send through as much information as possible – image inspiration, dimensions, timber styles etc. We recommend you do this prior to an in person appointment as it helps you as the customer have a think about what you’re after. After that, someone from the Timbermill team will be in touch within 48 hours. We can generally provide some rough pricing pretty quickly, all our pricing is calculated based on the labour and materials required to complete a job.
After you have a ball park price and you’re happy with it, you can opt to come into our office for a chat about your piece to finalise your job details. More details on the next steps are found in the below points.
Our payment terms are 50% deposit to confirm an order, with the final amount due prior to delivery. There are no exceptions to this unless noted in writing by Timbermill.
Yes we do, although if you require one prior to your deposit payment a $150.00+gst fee applies (within 30km of Marrickville, NSW, additional fees applies outside of this area) for a site inspection. This amount is paid prior the inspection. If you decide to proceed we will discount this amount from your final invoice.
One site inspection maximum is allowed for post deposit payment. Any additional site visits after this point incur a $150.00+gst fee (within 30km of Marrickville, NSW, additional fees applies outside of this area). These amounts will be invoiced to you as they occur. Appointments at the Timbermill office incur no fees, although please note they must be arranged prior as we are not always able to accommodate walk in appointments.

To confirm an order we require you to accept your quote via a link. On acceptance, an invoice will be sent and a 50% deposit is required to confirm your order. All lead times start from date of deposit payment.
You’re able to change your order if required up until the final drawings have been approved, although not below the original deposit amount (this amount is non refundable). After production has started, any variation will be invoiced accordingly. With all sales orders, we require a deposit before any drawings are supplied so we understand sometimes changes are necessary.

Our standard lead time is around 8 weeks from date of deposit. Please note, accepting a quote does not guarantee you a spot on our build schedule and the deposit must be received to lock in your time.

The below FAQs relates to our 'Doors & Drawers' offering.
Essentially, we love Ikea and the idea of mixing high and low. Our goal is to enable you to enhance and customise your flat pack kitchen design with handcrafted solid timber fronts. Ikea have so much experience with their base cabinetry- they’ve tried and tested why a cabinet should be this deep, and this wide etc. so we’ve taken the approach that we should work with and not against them. Our product is designed to enhance and give your flatpack kitchen a designer touch.
Timbermill PTY LTD is not affiliated or associated with Ikea in any way at all. We simply love their cabinet systems and wanted to offer an aftermarket product to accessorise them.
No we don’t help with the main kitchen design. Whilst we’re happy to help with design ideas around the look of incorporating solid timber into your kitchen design; you design and order the Ikea part yourself.
This helps you save on costs by organising and installing the Ikea carcasses yourself and then adding a luxe element with the handcrafted solid timber fronts. Ikea have an amazing free planner which you can mockup your kitchen design. We have always found that personally it’s easiest to design a kitchen using one of their standard doors to help visualise and then just take off the doors themselves (not the hinges) when processing the order!
Yes we do, our sample kits are available via our online store. They give you a small sample of our timber options which helps show the colour variations between the timber species. We highly recommend purchasing one of our sample kits first up to help give an idea of the colouring and differences between the timber options.
We have a small setup in our warehouse in Marrickville, NSW which you're welcome to come and have a look at although we do recommend chatting with us via email or phone first. You can book in an appointment via hello@timbermill.com.au
We don't offer site visits for 'Doors&Drawers' as the actual kitchen design is more related to Ikea; but you're welcome to give us a call or send an email to chat through your ideas.
Timbermill does have a custom furniture arm but please note we are not cabinet makers so not suitable for the actual kitchen carcass cabinetry or options such as painted/veneered doors. We recommend you speak to a specialised kitchen maker for this style kitchen.
Not really. We have designed and priced these items to suit Ikea flat pack kitchen systems. We can potentially quote to customise but note it will cost more than using our standard doors & drawers as will need to be treated as a one off custom project. Get in touch to discuss via sales@timbermill.com.au
We don't. Our 'Doors and Drawers' offering is designed to offer solid timber fronts for Ikea flat pack kitchen systems. If you're looking for painted cabinets we recommend getting in touch with a kitchen cabinet maker.
We don't offer this as a standard offering yet (hopefully we will soon).
Yes you do! You get everything from Ikea (including hinges) aside from the fronts. Read about it in the 'How Doors & Drawers works' page.
You get everything from Ikea except the fronts themselves. Read more about it in the 'How Doors & Drawers works' page.
Yes we do, although these are made as a custom item. Please email sales@timbermill.com.au with details of the bench top including dimensions, cut outs and thickness and we will quote for you. We do not install these bench tops as standard so you will either need to find an installer or if you’re handy be able to fit it into your kitchen space, this will often involve further cutting, sanding and ‘fitting’ in.
If you already have an Ikea kitchen and wanting to replace the doors, you will just need to get us the exact measurements and hinge locations.
If you've used a flat pack system that isn't Ikea you're welcome to reach out to discuss via sales@timbermill.com.au but at this stage we can only guarantee that we work with the Ikea system.
We have prived our cover panels in the same sizing as Ikea but you can enter in your dimensions (within these size brackets). Note, we will cut to these dimensions provided but similar to Ikea as you are fitting yourself you will need to allow for minor adjustments (cut, sand etc) to fit into your space.
We can make doors for your integrated appliances but we treat these as custom panels so please find the best cover panel panel and enter in your exact dimensions (best to get these from the manufacturer). We do not pre-drill these and you will need to install these panels yourself. Generally the manufacturer will provide instructions for how to do this.
No. These doors are suitable for indoor spaces only. If you’re after custom doors for an outdoor area get in touch with our Timbermill Custom team via sales@timbermill.com.au
Yes, we offer the same standard sized products as they offer within their Metod kitchen system.
Yes, we will get the doors and drawers to the same level in terms of pre-drilling that a standard Ikea door would arrive with. Cover panels and trim will be cut to the approx size but you will need to cut to exact sizing to ‘fit in’ to exact space (which is the same as Ikea).
No we aren’t able to do this, it is best you do this post install in your own space!
We use Sketchup to draw everything that we do, including our kitchens and homes. We generally draw the kitchen at it’s overall scale into the house model but then use the Ikea planner to finalise the exact design.
Read about it on the 'How Doors & Drawers works' page but essentially you just select the fronts that align with your kitchen design, choose your timber, order and then install yourself!
Solid timber will always have some natural movement over time, in particular within spaces such as kitchens with the heat elements nearby. We add additional supports to our fronts to ensure they remain flat over time.
Yes natural timber will always have variation between boards - whether it be colour variation, sap veins and imperfections. We see this as one of the benefits of using solid timber, so please ensure you are happy with this look prior to ordering.
Please note, we do not offer veneered timbers.
We require full payment for any 'Doors & Drawers' product prior to processing an order. Payment can be made via credit using our online store.
We can ship throughout Australia but anything outside of New South Wales will need to be custom quoted. Please get in touch via sales@timbermill.com.au to get a quote - it is all based on weight and amount of packages so you will need your final order prior to getting shipping quote.
Lead time varies throughout the year and to whether it is peak season or not (we call peak season November-March), but approx lead time is 4-6 weeks from date of order/payment.
We will confirm your lead time on ordering.
We will package up your items and deliver them to your door, ready for you to install. Our delivery guys will not install your doors and at this stage we don’t offer install for ‘Doors & Drawers’ as standard.
We don’t offer install at standard; we’ve made up a video which breaks down how to clip the fronts on. Ikea also has a lot of resources on how to install their cabinets.
We recommend cleaning with a damp cloth and warm water. Never leave water on any of your fronts for an extended period of time as this will cause the timber to expand and contract causing long term damage to the doors. We will not warranty or replace doors damaged by water.
We will try to be accommodating with a change of order, but cannot guarantee it after an order has been processed.
As all of our items are made to order we are not able to issue refunds on a change of mind or incorrect measurement. It is your responsibility to ensure your measurements are correct!
We offer a three (3) year structural warranty on all doors & drawers products.
Warranty is void if installation instructions have not been followed or there is damage clearly related to installation.
Timber is a natural product and it is normal that is moves slightly over time. This will mean that occasionally you’ll get some slight cracking or minor warping. This is normal. If it does become worse and more than a slight imperfection please reach out with some imagery and details and we’ll take a look for you.
